Rail, the quickest city access |
"Taking the train instead of air meant we arrived in the European city centres, saving cab fares and associated transfer costs. Eurail trains are very comfortable and I recommend travelling in first class as most cities have First Class Rail Lounges that you can take advantage of. Makes waiting and catching trains very relaxed. "

"This is the second time I have purchased a Eurail pass and found them to be very good value. It also meant I was able to travel first class which I would not do when paying each trip as I went. Whilst I believe I received extremely good value for money, the other aspect to this pass is that it is paid in advance of holiday and therefore when getting towards the end of the holiday when funds may be getting low, you can still travel as there is no cost involved in the fares. Travelling with a Eurail pass |
"We have been doing it for 30 years, convenient and easy to use. I did a comparison for the trips we did this year, and the Eurail pass was probably cheaper (allowing for 1st class travel). Staff at the railway stations, almost without exception, are helpful, and language is never a problem, as long as you try to work with them. "

    Not really worth it |
"Buses are cheaper and the pass is not as convenient as hopping on trains, as most require a reservation (which also cost more money). "

    Convenient yes,  |
"It was certainly convenient to be able to travel from Italy, through 8 countries to Norway on a 22 day Pass. There are two improvements that could be made however. Firstly, the Eurail App should include direct links to the participating train companies on specific legs, to enable online reservations for seats with that company direct from the App. Because I did not know which train company was responsible for particular legs, I mostly needed to attend a Station to make the reservation hours or a day in advance. Secondly, whilst the Eurail App was excellent in linking connecting legs of a long journey, many of the legs were separated by only minutes at the railway stations where a connection to another train was required. This allowed insufficient time to work out which platform the connecting train was leaving from. This could be rectified by a link from the App to the particular railway station to allow access to the Station timetable to determine which Platform to present to. "

"I found the Eurail Global Pass a great way to travel. It was very convenient and I didn't have any issues overall. The only negative is the fact it states that once the trip was completed the `pass folder` could be returned for a gift reward. I did this and have had no response. This is most disappointing. "

"The train travel is fine. The convoluted eurail pass and recommended train booking site ( is very average. You cannot book a train anytime less than a week. Very poor. So I never used this site. I eventually just boarded a train with no booking, and never had a problem. Reservation fees were also a joke in some cases. "
